"Wynne & Penkovsky" / "The Man from Moscow"

"Wynne & Penkovsky" - 16mm film based on the true story of Greville Wynne (David Calder) and Russian defecting spy Oleg Penkovsky (Christopher Rozycki).

Production designed by Chris Edwards, this BBC tv film was shot in France and Scotland.

I was Art director on the Scottish section and we recreated a "Checkpoint Charlie" East/West German border crossing in the infamous Gorbals area of Glasgow.

Salt 'Snow' was spread about and, since David Calder, wasn't available that day, our senior carpenter was dressed up,hair Brylcreemed back, as a stand in for prisoner exchange!
